American Innovations Acquires Intelek
AUSTIN, TX – October 7, 2008: American Innovations, Ltd. (AI) and Intelek, Inc. announced today that AI has acquired the assets of Intelek for an undisclosed amount. The Intelek product lines will be managed out of AI's office in Austin, Texas. Key employees in Intelek's technical service department have been employed by AI, ensuring a swift and easy transition without any interruption to services. The Intelek product line will become a part of the Field Data Division's Bullhorn® Wireless Remote Monitoring family of products.
Intelek provides complete solutions for monitoring remote fixed assets with wireless communication technologies for the oil & gas, agriculture and utilities industries. The INT300, Intelek's versatile, two-way wireless monitoring unit communicates via the ORBCOMM satellite network. The device features over-the-air configuration, almost unlimited flexibility in I/O options and the ability to communicate using RS232/485 to a large variety of Intelligent Electronic Devices using standard modbus protocol. By providing instant alerts on critical conditions, customers are provided with easy access to their remote asset information via Internet-connected devices such as cell phones, PDA's and PC's.
AI currently provides wireless remote monitoring to customers with the Bullhorn® Wireless Remote Monitoring product line, which offers solutions for virtually any industrial application and communicates via cellular, digital cellular (GSM), or satellite technologies. Bullhorn devices are capable of remote monitoring for scheduled and by-exception inbound reporting, as well as two-way communication for on-demand reads, activating/deactivating equipment, and can be upgraded to include an interrupter (the MicroMax® GPS80) for IR-free CP reads, depending on the device. The units collect scheduled reads (meter reads), provide instant notification of alarm events via pager, fax, email and/or voice notification and data can be accessed from the Bullhorn web site using the Internet.
"Intelek has grown very quickly by providing simple, reliable products and fantastic service," explains AI President Rich Smalling. "We look forward to incorporating those products into the Bullhorn® family, continuing Intelek's tradition of great service and applying AI's resources to support continued growth. We're excited about expanding into new markets and combining the best of both systems to make the Bullhorn business even stronger than it is today."
"I am pleased that American Innovations will continue the work that Intelek started," says Intelek founder Robert Bamburg. "AI has a strong reputation in the oil and gas industry and beyond because they sell and support dependable products that make it easier for companies to efficiently monitor their assets, and leveraging that influence will allow Intelek products to reach customers on a much wider scale."
American Innovations has commenced implementation of the planned integration of the two companies' operations, networks and customer care organizations to ensure a smooth transition and immediate value for all customers.
